Families with Children
We utilize a Whole-Brain Approach when working with children and teens. In Family Therapy, we utilize the bond that is already present. First, we seek to create a sense of safety for open communication. We discover this through tracking current cycles of interactions and discuss what’s working and what’s not. In Parent-Child Interactions, parents learn to sooth their child through empathy and naming emotions. This route through the right brain is an important first step to building connection. Left brain logic is not often received when there’s blocks to connection or unmet attachment needs. The whole-brain approach is described in Dr. Siegel’s book the Whole-Brain Child. Other books he wrote include Parenting from the Inside Out and Brainstorm.
Families with Teens or Adult Children
Sometimes life takes an unexpected turn and we find ourselves in situations we NEVER expected. Life can be lonely when those we connected with once are no longer there in the same way. I’m hear to help navigate life’s challenges and life cycles. When families are willing and ready to work together and explore new ways to interact, healing can happen.
We use Emotional Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) for families which is an experiential and psychodynamic theory. We take the time to get to know each member’s unique attachment history, hurts/traumas and how it connects to your current connection experience. We seek to understand what attachment needs may have been unmet in your journey, so we can create new ways to reach and connect.
