Neurofeedback has been around since the 1970s, starting with reducing seizures in cats by raising sensorimotor rhythms (SMRs). These waves are associated with brain activity related to movement, attention, and focus. Research now supports neurofeedback use for a variety of mental stressors like ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, irritability, and more.
Certain brain waves cause different symptoms. For example, too much theta waves cause daydreaming (sometimes ADHD), too much beta can cause anxiety which can contribute to lack of focus. The most common findings for those with ADHD are beta and theta waves. Research articles have documented success with lowering these waves and have found reduction in symptoms similar to those using stimulants.
How it works?
Brain Master equipment is used to track brain waves in real-time in which the TV screen will reward the brain through brightening when the brain is within the range in which it is exercising. This can be done while you or your child is watching an entertaining or relaxing video.
View the free consultation video below describing how neurofeedback works. Please note that we use shorter protocols than mentioned by Dr. Tate in this video. Multivariant Coherence Training is 15 sessions per brain map completed by Dr. Coban and a minimum of 2 maps are recommended.
